It is a great pleasure to announce that Nitte University, Mangaluru, Karnataka is organizing VIROCON 2017, the 26th National Conference of the Indian Virological Society (IVS), from 7th to 9th December, 2017 . The theme of this conference is “Viruses to Viromes in Health and Disease". On behalf of the organizing committee, we extend a warm and cordial invitation to all the members of the society and persons interested in the theme of the conference, for active participation in this important conference. We are confident that the forum will provide an excellent opportunity to the participants for very productive scientific deliberations and interactions in the domains covering medical, veterinary, plants, aquatic and environmental virology
Indian Virological Society was established in December 1984. It is a unique scientific body that provides platform for those associated with the characterization and management of viruses affecting Animal, Human, Fish, Insect, Plant and any other living beings. Besides, IVS organizes National and International Conferences, Training, Seminar, Workshop, Invited lecture series, Industry-meet etc. The Society recognizes outstanding contribution of individuals in the field of virology and confers "Prof. K.S. Bhargava Oration Award" and "Fellow of IVS" every year. IVS is the member of International Union of Microbiological Society (IUMS). The Society publishes an internationally reputed journal,"Virus Disease"in collaboration with Springer and a half Yearly news letter “Virus Research News”.

Mangaluru/Manglore is the main port city of Karntaka situated 352 Kilometres from the state capital Bengaluru and is named after the Hindu deity Mangaladevi.Mangaluru is located in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka on the south west coast of India by Arabian sea to its west and Western Ghats to its east.

Mangaluru has many tourist centres and is the nucleus of many pilgrim sites. Beaches (Panambur,Tannirbhavi,Someshwar),Temples(Mangaladevi, Kudroli), Parks (Kadri, Pilikula Nisargadhama),Churches (St.Aloysius Chapel, Milagres), Dargas, Shopping Malls(Forum Fiza, City Center and Bharat Mall) are a plenty. The City is well connected with convenient access through air, rail and road. There is an International airport at Bajpe (20 km from the city).Railway station (Manglore Central and Manglore Junction) and bus Station are located within 5-6kms radius of the city.
